Welcome to episode 1 of my JORDAN travel series ! This video is a Petra guide showing you the SMARTEST WAY TO SEE PETRA in JORDAN. You will see Petra with a local Bedouin who was born and raised in the village and knows all the secrets, tips and hacks to get Petra with no tourists as well as all the best photo spots just for you. We will see the secret hike, backdoor entrance to the Petra Monastery, the Petra market with local life, Roman street, caves and gorges, the Siq trail and the famous treasury along with the treasury viewpoint. This video will demonstrate how to do a Petra day trip without getting up at 4am and still get famous spots, viewpoints and monuments to yourself. The local currency is the JOD and you'll need around 20-30 JODs if you'd like to buy drinks in Petra during the day as well as access the transport to the backdoor hike. The entrance into Petra itself is included in your Jordan Pass which I strongly recommend getting online before your arrival into the country.
I visited in mid September and got to Petra at around midday, my tour lasted just over 5 hours (I chose not to stop for lunch) and we walked 11km!
I was worried about dressing conservatively and respecting local custom but Petra is full of foreigners and I found no one blinks an eye if your shoulders/ knees aren't fully covered.

This is a video about my first impressions of Portofino in Italy as well as a Portofino walking tour, answering your question of Is the Hype Really Worth It?
Portofino has been attracting tourists, artists and celebrities from all over the world and has grown in popularity over the years and this video is a first overview from someone who has never been but had high expectations.

Notes: I am aware there are more things to do in the area, this is a really basic walking tour to see what the place looks like, what vibe I get and if I'd come back - not a detailed guide.
The number for the parking I mentioned in the video is: +39 335 6842656. He actually ended up discounting the price by 30% for us as we only stayed for a few hours.
Da V Mare is the Da Vittorio restaurant chain and very pricey but SO delicious! I can safely recommend it.
Ideally I would have also visited the Cinque Terre by ferry, done one hike and maybe seen Castello Brown - so a weekend here is perfect but not more.
Also, I think this place largely comes alive when the sun is out and becomes a lot less attractive in bad weather so definitely check the forecast before you go.
